One Month!

We can hardly believe it, but our little guy is now a month old! He's changed so much in the past several weeks, both physically and in personality. After several weeks of fussiness/colic we are starting to see a happy little boy emerge. :) Evan has had a routine of constant crying from around 9 p.m. to 11 p.m. every night. Brett and I would take turns walking him around the house because that seemed to be the only thing that worked, and even that was a temporary fix until he eventually fell asleep. During the day he wanted to be held constantly (so there's not a lot of time to blog as you can imagine).

Just yesterday we noticed that he didn't cry as hard or for as long as usual. He even slept 5 1/2 hours during the night last night (although I must say he's always been a great sleeper once he goes down). He's starting to smile back and coo at us too! He also does this funny thing with his leg when we lay him down on his changing table (which he loves) or the floor where he kicks it really fast like he's trying to start his motorcyle. It's so fun to see how he's changing and becoming a real little person!

We had our one-month checkup on Monday. Evan weighed 12.4 pounds (97%) and measured 24 inches long (which is off the charts)!!! No surprise there with his tall Mommy and Daddy though. He's super healthy as you can see. Unfortunately, he had to have one of his shots at this appointment. He was a champ and only cried for a minute. Here's a photo of his little Tweety Bird bandaid on this leg.

Mommy has to go back to work in just a few short weeks. We have a super sweet nanny coming to keep Evan, so hopefully I won't be as sad leaving him those first few weeks back knowing he's in good hands.

Evan is Here!

Evan Brett Osterkamp is here! He was born May 19th at 6:14 a.m. weighing 8 pounds, 14ounces and measuring 22 1/4 inches long!

Let's go back to the big day (now that it's been 3 weeks)! I started having contractions 5 minutes apart on Tuesday, May 18th at around 3:00 that afternoon. By 4 p.m. they were more regular, so we decided to hop in the car and head to the hospital in an attempt to beat rush hour traffic (thank goodness Brett had already taken the day off). We checked in just before 5 p.m. but Evan decided to stay put until 6:14 the next morning. Labor wasn't too bad once the epidural kicked in. I felt more sorry for the family that had to wait it out while attempting to get some sleep in those awful chairs! It was all worth it, right!?!?

Dad is ready to get this show on the road!

Grampy patiently waiting

Mom's ready to go too! He's here! Look at the size of those feet!Emjoying a refreshment after all that work.
Are we all happy or what!?!?

Happy Birthday, Tyler!

First, I want to wish my nephew Tyler a very HAPPY 3rd BIRTHDAY!! We love you and miss you so much.

We had our 40 week appointment on Friday, May 14th. I had been having mild contractions off and on the two nights prior, so Dr. Martin feels confident we could have this sweet baby this weekend! I was dilated to 2 cm and 75% effaced, so things are moving along. Call me crazy, but I think Hank (our Vizsla) knows it too! He's been acting strange...following me around and just staring at me more than normal. Hmm...

The house is all clean and ready, so hopefully I'll have some exciting news on my next blog posting!

Evan's Room!

Above is a photo of Evan's room...finally. It's definitely a brighter blue than I had originally pictured us doing, but once Brett got all the paint up there was no going back. We got several compliments on it so decided to just go with it. Our creative friend Leanna made the super cute letters above his crib - isn't she awesome!?!

I had a spurt of energy between the hours of 3 and 5 this morning, so I got more of his room organized and found more clothes to wash. Felt a few contractions throughout the night, but nothing that made us rush to the hospital. Who knows...this little guy could be making an appearance any day so stay tuned!

Weeks 38 & 39

Yes, I'm finally getting around to updating the blog...definitely not a good sign considering I don't even have a baby to keep me busy yet! We are 8 days out from our due date and I had my weekly appointment yesterday. Still 1 cm dilated (for 3 weeks now) and 75% effaced (2 weeks now), but Dr. Martin said that little Evan has definitely dropped a little since last week. Boy, do I feel it! Brett was a little bummed out that the news wasn't, "You're already in labor and you didn't even know it...let's get you to the hospital!" Ha - if only it were that easy.

Our next appointment is actually on the due date (May 14th), so we'll see if he makes an appearance before then.

In the meantime we've been keeping busy with daily life. We moved offices at work last week, and the new one is spectacular! I guess it will be a little something to look forward to after returning from maternity leave.

Brett is spending his free time helping me with miscellaneous projects, entertaining Hank and studying for the CPA exam (2 parts down and 2 to go). Below is a photo of the boys hanging out in Evan's room.

My Mom (Nonna) brought the triplets over last Sunday for a visit and what fun we had! Carter and Grant are crawling all over the place now and Blake is getting there but mostly goes backwards until he gets stuck. They are absolutely precious and it was so nice to spend time with them. Here they are playing with their Uncle Brett.

Finally, several of you have been asking for preggo pics. We haven't been doing a good job with those, but here's one from about almost a month ago. As you can imagine the belly is definitely a lot larger now!

Update on Evan

We had our 34 week appointment on Monday, April 5th. Evan is measuring 5 pounds, 4 ounces, which is right on track for 34 weeks. We didn't get a good photo from the sonogram (yet again), so I decided to post one of him at 28 weeks. Dr. Martin says everything looks perfect according to the sonogram. Next appointment is April 19th, and then weekly from there! You know we're getting close when those weekly ones start!

I'm doing great and feeling well. Brett has been itching to put all of our baby toys together. He did a great job putting together the glider & ottoman that my sweet aunt Judy (aka "Mama Hooty") and cousin Heather got us. It's sooooo comfy. We take turns going in there just to sit in it and relax! Hank thinks we're weird, but only because he's not allowed in that room right now since the stuffed animals are too tempting for him. Once we get everything put away I'll post photos of Evan's room for everyone to see. Ciao for now!

We finally took the plunge and decided to start blogging!

As most of you know Brett and I are expecting our first baby on May 14, 2010 and have decided to name him Evan Brett. We are very excited about the journey ahead and appreciate all of the love and support we have received. We are so blessed to be surrounded by amazing friends and family. We hope that this blog will keep you updated on our new addition and the fun adventure ahead.
